Carter Wind & Texas Tech Partner on DOE Wind Turbine Development Grant

Wichita Falls, Texas (September 17, 2010) - Carter Wind Energy (CWE), an advanced wind turbine technology company with focus on the mid-size, community wind energy market, is pleased to announce a partnership with Texas Tech University (TTU) that has resulted in a Department of Energy (DOE) Mid-Size Wind Turbine Development grant. The grant will aid in the development and commercialization of the Carter Model 500 wind turbine.

Technology utilized in the Carter Model 500 represents the future for unsubsidized, economically sustainable, clean, renewable wind energy generation that is cost competitive with current forms of hydrocarbon power generation.

CWE was established in 1976 and was one of the early pioneers in the wind energy industry. The current design adds significant technological and commercial advantages versus early units. "Our corporate vision is to create mid-size, community wind energy project installations leveraging technology that has the potential of generating electricity that is cost competitive with current forms of power generation," says Matt Carter, President of Carter Wind Energy. "Carter Wind Energy is delighted to be a partner with a world class university such as Texas Tech having a common goal of helping to fulfill the world's need for clean and sustainable energy production."

Community Wind Energy Projects are smaller in size, developed and operated with the goal of maximizing the local community's economic benefit of the natural resource inherent to their area. Where practical, Community Wind Energy Projects include local investors and ownership in the wind energy project.
